Decide, Believe, Do!
How can I achieve my goals in life? That is a question that transcends time, gender, religion, and ethnicity. Xavier Waye, the author of book series; The Adventures of Firesky, has three words that define his process for life, at 13 years old; Decide, Believe, Do! Xavier Waye is not only the CEO of his own publishing company Savior Publishing, and the author of the first book on the company’s roster; he is also the creator of his short story series called Short Walk Talks published only to his family. Xavier also has autism and has dealt with being bullied, isolated, and had thoughts of suicide at the tender age of 13. After having a tumultuous 6th grade school year, where he essentially failed most of his classes, was physically attacked and scared by a bully and hated every single day of his school year his parents allowed him to be homeschooled for 7th grade. The changes were made with Xavier's involvement to ensure he felt a part of the decision for his day to day life instead of being forced like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
With the changes made to his environment, he decided to change his outlook as well. With the first book in his novel series almost complete, Xavier adopted the process for his life; Decide, Believe, Do! This process, per his definition, is simple:
1. Decide what you want to do. It doesn't mean you won't change it later; it just means right now you have said to yourself: "I want to do this now." When you decide to do something, you are telling your internal universe that we are moving this way now, kind of like a group of ant do when there is an obstacle in their way.
2. Believe in yourself no matter what anyone else says. When you believe in something you fight through everything and everyone that is telling you, you can't do it. If I believed everything other people said about me, I would never be expected to be anything. Instead, I own a company and get to share my stories with the world. I know it sounds easy, it's not, but you have to believe in yourself to make it work.
3. Do it! Nike has a saying, "Just Do It!" I think that is true for everyone, that's what I did. I didn't do it alone, but when I decided and believed in my decision the people I needed to help me accomplish my goals showed up. Most of the times they didn't know that is why they were there. It is scary when you try something for the first time, only because it is not familiar, but trust me it is worth it.
You can achieve anything if you Decide, Believe, and Do!
