Xavier Waye - I Love Lego's
According to the LEGO corporation, one of their missions is to " inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow." The phrase builders of tomorrow do not simply imply designing and constructing structures, although if you have ever played with a Lego set, you know designing and constructing is pretty darn cool. Builders of tomorrow refer to anyone who can see the potential for improvement in existing things and those who design and develop structures and create worlds no human has ever seen. Xavier Waye, the author of the fictional historical adventure series; the Adventures of Firesky based on the possibility of a living heir to king Tutankhamen who would have rightly ascended to the throne of Egypt. According to Xavier, LEGO blocks are the building blocks and inspiration for his imagination and elaborate stories.
In Xavier's world, each character created by LEGO based on an on-screen character is an opportunity to build on the existing stories. Essentially LEGO's rendition of a movie scene is the foundation and a spring-board to how he sees the next level of the story or the development of the back-story for the character. LEGO's are his building blocks. These building blocks continue to inspire him and allow him to see the complexities of his stories played out using Lego's. These building blocks provide a level of freedom and open creativity to children to aspire to the greatness they are created to be.
So the next time you see a child "Playing" with LEGO's, change the way you look at them. Next time see them as laying the foundation of building blocks to be whomever they choose to be with all of the creativity and confidence needed to conquer the world for good.
